History
The James H. Hall Eye Center is Born
In 1969, our founder, Mr. James H. Hall, President of Georgia Electric Company in Albany, Georgia, began to lose his sight. He suffered multiple and serious eye problems including a tumor, glaucoma, cataracts, and detached retina. In his search for specialized treatment, he found a group of outstanding ophthalmologists who performed a series of operations and saved his sight.
Mr. James Hall started the Hall Eye Center some 42 years ago. He had three main goals in sight all of which were reached and continue to be a part of our daily endeavors. The three goals were the treatment and diagnosis of children's eye problems, the training of future pediatric ophthalmologists and the active production of research in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
- We have treated thousands of patients, trained 35 fellows who practice pediatric ophthalmology in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arizona, California, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Montana. Georgia, West Virginia, and Florida.
- We have published close to 100 scientific articles all peer reviewed in Ophthalmology journals. We review prospective articles for possible publication in six journals.
- We also are fortunate to have at Eye Consultants of Atlanta, ophthalmologists who specialize in glaucoma, cornea, plastics, and retina who give consultation and treatment to our patients when we require help in their area of expertise.
- We have five doctors on our Pediatric Ophthalmology staff. They are Dr. Zane Pollard, Dr. Marc Greenberg, Dr. Shivani Sethi, Dr. Kevin Budman, and Dr. Mark Bordenca. Our volunteer group of ophthalmologists are contributing in vital ways and the value of their contribution in time, talent, and effort is estimated at a minimum of $475,000 each year.
